PHP/LAMP
3months is intimate with the web's most widely used technology 'stack' of: Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP). These great open-source technologies are the backbone of the modern web and 3months staff are highly-skilled with every one of them. (Just quietly, we're also really into PostgreSQL, the lesser known cousin to MySQL database, and WordPress, the de facto standard for blogging.)
Here's a brief run down on what these technologies have to offer and why we think they're great for almost any site:
PHP
Certainly the leading language for websites both great and small, PHP offers a huge suite of web-focused functionality in a sophisticated and modern object-oriented scripting language. 3months has built many great, bespoke websites using PHP.
MySQL/PostgreSQL
Relied upon by global enterprise and governments alike, MySQL offers blazingly fast performance on a robust and stable platform.
The lesser known but more feature-complete rival to MySQL, PostrgreSQL offers a more advanced set of features for sites with more stringent requirements.
3months' capable staff are well versed in the ins and outs of designing and maintaining intricate, high-load databases for sophisticated web-applications using both MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Apache/Squid
By far the most popular web (HTTP) server application in the world, Apache offers the most secure, robust and extensible platform from which to serve your websites.
Providing best-of-breed caching and proxy services, Squid is an indispensable adjunct to Apache for serving high-performance web-applications.
3months have extensive experience of configuring complex Apache-Squid installations for a variety of sophisticated uses.
Linux
The world's most widely used operating system for website hosting, Linux offers excellent stability, scalability, performance and efficiency.
Our resident system administrators currently favour Ubuntu for it's stable, Debian pedigree, but with a more modern package set. However, we are also familiar with a number of other Linux 'flavours' such as: Debian and FreeBSD (OK, UNIX not Linux).
WordPress
Although not part of the LAMP stack, WordPress is the de facto standard for open-source blogging applications. It offers an exhaustive suite of functionality through a beautifully clean and simple interface.
We have implemented and host many successful and great looking WordPress blogs, involving a simple re-skin (design) through to more extensive functional customisation.
